We were invited to a trail run up Miller Hill with representatives from the Utah County Commissioners office, Uinta Forest service, Timpanogos National Monument, BLM, various surveyors, PPAFC, KSL television, Daily Herald, and Deseret News along with drivers from Teraflex, U4WDA, Western States Snowmobile Association, and other interested parties.
After assigning riders to vehicles, we headed up in the canyon in the brisk air. We made good time all the way up to the mining area above Tyngs Grave, where we stopped and had a presentation by Dan Webb on the current/existing survey maps of the area. Then the group took a hike up to an overlook above the mines with views into Mineral Basin, Mary Ellens Gulch, and back down Miller Hill. After having some great discussion with various users about the canyon, we headed down to Tyngs Grave where Alan Taylor shared the history of the grave. The group then headed down the canyon, with some users making a quick stop at graveyard flats before heading home.
We are grateful to have been invited to participate, and are honored to be part of protecting this area we love so much.
