After completing a sign install service project, a couple of us took a run up Mary Ellens Gulch in American Fork Canyon. I was glad to see that the dangerous washed out section near the beginning of the trail had been repaired and was holding up well. After traveling 3/4 of the way up the rocky trail, and before reaching the switch backs, we hit a snow drift so we turned around and headed towards the side loop trail with the cabin. We got halfway down that trail before hitting another snow drift, so we turned around and headed home.
It was a great day out on the trail, and the canyon was visually amazing as usual. On the way out of the canyon we spotted smoke, and saw that the mouth of the canyon was closed down due to a large fire.
