We kicked off the spring season with a campout in the Little Moab area and trail ride on a new route we had scouted out. Upon meeting up Friday night, we convoyed out to a spot near chimney rock. Once camp was setup we spent the night around the campfire catching up and getting to know some new friends, along with some great dutch oven dessert made by Sam Cohen . The next morning we did a cleanup of the area which sometimes has been used as a shooting location. After cleaning out the old targets, shells, and general trash we played around on the little moab obstacles before heading down to Elberta and the start of our trail.
What normally is an fairly easy dirt road turned into a somewhat challenging trip through the backcountry east of Eureka. After some interesting climbs and descents we came out of the trail south of Eureka. On our way back towards the town, we swung by Silver City and checked out the ruins of the ore smelter there. Heading back to camp we decided to do a quick run through the abandoned train tunnel in the area to finish off the day.
It was a great campout and was fun getting out onto a new set of trails. Thank you to everyone who made it out!
