Working with Mike Thomas of the DNR, we put together a Trail Host training on September 5th. A trail host is "An individual or group, who act as a volunteer presence on a trail or trailhead of their choice. Hosts are responsible for educating the public about each aspect of OHV recreation by providing information on educational courses, safe riding habits,Tread Lightly! principles, and more. This is accomplished through interacting with the public while riding a trail or setting up a table at a trailhead. Both include the use of educational materials (provided to you)."
Utilizing the Trail Host program we were able to setup our 5 mile pass cleanup earlier in the year with the BLM
, along with having access to materials and training that has assisted us in our interactions with the public. We know this program works, and were happy to be able to promote, and schedule, our 3rd training of the year.
Thank you to all who attended!
