During our pre-run through Little Moab a month ago we noticed the area was in need of some attention in the trash department so a cleanup was scheduled on 9/16/2017. The night before the cleanup a few members camped out near chimney rock to prep for the following day. Despite rain earlier in the day, the area was dry and a pleasant temperature. The skies were also clear which made for excellent star gazing.
The next morning more members showed up and the cleanup began. In addition to picking up trash, we brought out our magnet sweeper to pickup nails and other metal hardware left by users burning pallets. A potato gun won the title of most unique item found during this cleanup.
After cleaning we headed over to the RC crawling competition being put on by 801RCC. They were doing the hill climb portion of the competition when we arrived, and it was very cool to see the cars racing up the obstacle course.
We then made our way down to the Elberta Slant train tunnel, but instead of taking the highway we took a lesser used backroad that snaked its way along the bottom of the mountain range. After arriving at the tunnel, and taking our obligatory pictures and drone footage, we proceeded to the highway where we parted ways.
Thank you everyone who made it out to this event!
