Tonight was the Forest Service volunteer appreciation dinner. Its awesome to attend this event each year, see all the different user groups various projects and achievements, and the large impact everyone working together made during the year.
I was honored to accept the certificate of appreciation on behalf of BOAR, recognizing the groups contribution of 522 hours of volunteer work in the canyon. In total all volunteer groups put in an incredible 3,904 hours in the forest, with one gentleman from TERT logging 290 hours on his own!
A huge thanks to the U.S. Forest Service Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest for the certificates, coins, passes, and other neat swag items. As volunteers we were thanked many times during the event, but we should also be thanking the Forest Service for being great to work with and putting in all the extra effort it takes to manage so many groups and projects along with taking time to recognize the groups each year.
Also a big thanks goes out to Recreation Outlet for the bottles bandannas, and awesome backpack filled with swag items. This is a business that i have noticed being extremely supportive of, and doing work in, the canyon along with supporting volunteers with great items. Definitely check them out for your outdoor needs and support businesses that support your sport!
Last but not least! Of course the bulk of the thanks goes out to everyone who was able to make it out to projects in the canyon this season. This award belongs to you the volunteers donating your time, expertise, vehicles, weekends, etc... to help protect and preserve this canyon.
Its always amazing to look back at what the group has accomplished over the year, and is humbling and my privilege to be associated with such great people.
Til' Next Time!
