After completing our NPLD fencing project in September, a couple of us decided it would be a good idea to return to the canyon and extend and install some further fencing to deter additional bypasses from forming in the area. We met up just after noon, headed up to the ranger station to pick up some supplies, and made our way up the canyon to the work site. Along the way we enjoyed the fall colors, and lack of people in the canyon. A few hundred feet before reaching the job site it started to lightly snow, and as we reached the site we noticed the meadow was filled with quite a few deer who seemed unconcerned with our presence. We unloaded the supplies and set to work on 2 sections of fencing totaling 40 feet of rail(80 feet if you count the upper and lower rail). Despite our small number, we were able to knock out the fencing in short order using the gas powered auger(Thank you Tread Lightly!). Upon completion of the project, the area was cleaned up and we headed back down the trail, scouting future service needs along the way. As we neared the bottom we spotted an abandoned mattress and a random pile of trash, which we loaded up and hauled out with us. It was a great time in the canyon enjoying scenery, silence, and nature while doing our part to give back. Til' Next Time!
