We kicked things off in Lehi at 9 with the beginning of the Chilly Willys Challenge. Our goal to fill up the 1948 Willys with donations was far surpassed, and it was an honor to be able to transport the items despite the cold.
A short time later we met up with the rest of the charity drive group at Larry H Miller in Sandy, who allowed the groups to meet up in their parking lot. Having this central meeting point made things flow very smoothly and allowed for such a large turnout. Special thanks goes to Dean Phelps for volunteering the area, coordinating with various groups, and gathering up a huge amount of items at the office. It was unreal to see the piles of donations.
After leaving the dealership we made the traffic light packed journey up to the shelter. Despite the group getting a little separated, we all managed to make it to the shelter shortly before 11. The group started dropping off donations just after 11, mingled for a little while after, and then separated for the day.
The people i spoke with at the shelter were extremely grateful, and many of the residents there told me how grateful they are to see such support for them. I know many others had similar tear filled and emotional conversations as well, and it is such a great tradition to be a part of on Christmas Eve each year to remind us of the reason for the season.
Words cannot express the level of thankfulness and gratitude.
Thank you everyone!
